The markings scratched on the desert surface are believed to be thousands of years old. They stretch in perfectly straight lines, traversing desert ravines and gullies for distances of up to 60 miles. Originally believed to be calendrical markers or vast astronomical directories, the exact origin and purpose of the markings remain unknown.
